NAXS Reunites with PSEUDO for Triplet State at ACT Festival

Nov 18, 2023

NAXS STUDIO reunites with Australian choreographer Harrison Hall and new media artist Sam McGilp for their new work Triplet State, premiering on November 18 at the Asia Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju, Korea — ACT Festival.

Triplet State is an interdisciplinary collaboration between NAXS STUDIO and the Australian artistic collective PSEUDO, continuing the exploration of the relationship between digital technology and bodily experience, with a focus on the concept of "shared bodily states." Using motion capture technology, the movements of three performers are synchronized and mapped onto a single virtual avatar, presenting the transformation and reconstruction of distributed identities. Inspired by the concept of "twin myths" from structural anthropology, the work also incorporates NAXS STUDIO's ongoing exploration of mythological narratives and ritualistic-driven creative methods. Combining dance, motion capture, real-time generated sound and visuals, and game interaction, the work creates a multi-layered sensory experience that reflects on the intersection of digital and real identities, exploring the future potential of the body and digital technology.
