about

ABOUT

P2P Residency is an international studio residency program initiated by NAXS STUDIO (Taipei) and PSEUDO (Melbourne).

Built around collaboration between independent studios, the program brings New Media artists into different local ecosystems to develop research, exchange methodologies, and produce work within shared studio communities. Rather than functioning as a conventional residency, P2P focuses on sustained relationships between artists, studios, technologists, and cultural practitioners through the ongoing exchange of knowledge, resources, and creative practice.

Conceived as an expanding studio network rather than a location-specific initiative, P2P establishes connections between cities through reciprocal residencies and collaborative partnerships. Each edition extends this network, supporting new forms of dialogue and collaboration across contemporary New Media practice.

Embedded Practice

Artists work from within active studios rather than temporary residency facilities, participating in ongoing projects, conversations, and day-to-day creative processes.

Process over Outcome

The residency prioritises experimentation, dialogue, and shared learning over fixed deliverables.

Local Cultural Access

Each residency is embedded within its local creative ecosystem, creating opportunities to connect with artists, curators, organisations, and audiences through informal exchange and public engagement.

1ST Edition

P2P 2024

The inaugural edition of P2P Residency brought together Taiwanese artist Zheng Jun-Peng (Ely) and Melbourne-based artist d duàn for a four-week exchange between Taipei and Melbourne.

Working across AI, experimental audiovisual performance, mythology, ritual, and embodied interaction, both artists developed research within the studio communities of NAXS and PSEUDO. Their residency explored how emerging technologies can reshape narratives, perception, and contemporary spiritual practices through cross-cultural dialogue and shared experimentation.

2ND EDITION

P2P 2025

The second edition welcomed Olivia Koh (Australia) and Robert Chang Chien (Taiwan), whose practices investigate history, memory, environmental psychology, and contemporary image-making.

Developed across Taiwan and Australia, their residency expanded P2P's ongoing interest in research-led New Media practice. Through archival inquiry, photography, moving image, and interdisciplinary experimentation, both artists examined how technologies can mediate cultural memory, place, and perception.

VISION

P2P is conceived as an evolving international studio network.

Each residency establishes a new connection between independent studios, extending a distributed infrastructure for artistic research and collaboration. Rather than operating through a single institution, P2P grows through partnerships—linking local communities into a shared international framework for New Media practice.

As the network grows, P2P aims to evolve into an open platform for international studio exchange. Independent studios around the world will be able to join the network, publish residency opportunities, and define their own programs, timelines, and resources while maintaining their local identity. Through a shared online platform, artists will be able to discover and apply for these opportunities across borders, creating a more accessible model for international mobility and strengthening direct connections between creative communities worldwide.

Join a growing network of independent studios.
